Glove box issue on my boat

I picked up this boat last year and really like it, but the glove box bugs me. It doesn't seal properly to keep water out, and it rattles constantly. Has anyone else dealt with this? I am wondering if people have modified or replaced the door to fix it.

My uncle had a similar issue. he ended up pulling it off and making a new one out of starboard with a better latch and gasket, it was way quieter and actually keeps things dry now, another person I know lined his with foam tape and swapped the latch to a compression style, which helped a lot with the rattle

Is there a specific thickness of starboard that works best for this kind of glove box door? And for the compression latch, did they have to drill new holes ? Thanks!

Try replacing the latch and add some marine-grade weather stripping around the inside of the door frame!
The new latch should pull the door tighter, and the weather stripping is both for the seal and to stop the rattling.
You might also want to check if the hinges are loose, as tightening them can sometimes solve the rattle.

Thanks for the tips, making a new door from starboard sounds like a solid fix. Foam tape and a compression latch also seem worth trying. Any recommendations on where to get materials?
