I'm grabbing a 14ft Crestliner Sportsman this weekend to restore. The previous owner mentioned it's rated for 75hp, but I'll be using my 1965 25hp Mercury until I can track down a larger vintage motor. The hull seems sturdy, though it could use some rivets. I'll keep updating you once I bring it home

Are you planning to restore the rivets and hull first, or will you get it on the water with the 25hp Mercury before doing the bigger repairs?

That sounds like an awesome project! The 25hp Mercury should work fine for now until you find a bigger motor, replacing those rivets will really tighten the hull..keep us posted

Buying a 14ft Crestliner rated for 75hp but running it on a 25hp Merc is like entering a drag race with a lawnmower, you'll float fine, but don't expect respect on the water
