Just picked up a '81 Crestliner Crusader with a 100hp Evinrude outboard. Got a bit of a problem about the batteries, i'm trying to figure out the right setup, starting vs. deep cycle... for reliably running the motor and powering extras like a small sound system or maybe a phone charger. I've been eyeing Walmart's EverStart Maxx Group 29 marine battery but not sure if thats the best choice, and I'm also looking for a manual for the boat and motor. Any suggestions and leads?

I've been in your boat, literally. I have a '79 and went with a dedicated starting battery plus a deep-cycle for accessories. The EverStart Maxx 29DC does double duty, but you could also run a dual-battery setup for reliability. Have you found a boat or motor manual yet?
